Omega 3s are universally regarded as essential for brain health. However, getting them into your diet can drive one crazy. They are also called essential fatty acids because our body cannot make them. We must either eat foods high in omega 3 or use a fish oil supplement.

In the past we could get all the omega3s we needed by eating a lot of cold water fatty fish, grass fed beef, eggs or leafy greens. The health benefits were better brain, heart, joint and eye health.

Today much of our seafood is farm raised. Instead of their natural diet, they are fed pellets. What this means is that the fish themselves are not eating foods high in omega 3 [like algae or other predators that eat algae] – if the fatty acids are not in the food chain, they are not in the fish.

Wild species are loaded with omega 3s, but they also have absorbed various toxins from the environment that they swim in. These would include lead, mercury and other heavy metals. These contaminants are stored in the fatty parts of the body which is where the omega 3 acids come from. Both the EPA and FDA have warned about this problem. They are serious. The effects of mercury or lead poisoning take time to develop but are real.

So, unless you spend a lot of money on grass fed beef, organic eggs and leafy greens you probably have a deficiency.

There is a solution. It is called molecular distillation which separates the oil and the toxins by weight. There are a few, and I mean “few”, manufacturers that actually add an additional purifying step. The remaining oil is concentrated and put into soft gel capsules. This process also results in a very high nutrient content.

Now that we have moved from foods high in omega 3 to supplements, let me give you a few practical tips.

There is a product called Omacor. It is a concentrated and pure fish oil drug available only by prescription. It offers the purity and benefits I just mentioned. Great, you say, except that you could make a car payment on what that would cost you each month.

Or

You could do a little more research and get the same benefits for $17-$18 per month. For more information about what my family and I take, please visit my website.

Behind the glossy images in magazines, and on television, there lies dangerous anti-aging secrets.

Most skin care products, even the “natural” ones, contain many harsh chemicals used in industrial processes.

These chemicals are known to cause a wide range of adverse health effects, ranging from skin irritation to cancer.
But the skin care companies don’t want you to know this.

If you knew the truth, you’d have second thoughts about buying many of the most popular skin care products on the market……even the expensive brands.

You can stop aging by educating yourself on effective anti-aging skin care and use anti-aging products that will work for you and your skin.
