Are you in Prime-Time Health?

I just finished reading this new book on anti-aging. It is called Prime-Time Health by Dr William Sears and Martha Sears. They have written other popular health books. One important thing to note about Dr. Sears is that he survived cancer 7 years ago. A lot of his health advice to make everybody healthier stems from his own fight with disease.

This book does not rely on any so-called miracle pills, magic tricks, or mail order herbs. It does lay out a simple plan for improving our health through diet and exercise. There is nothing preachy about the book, but just a collection of clear facts about why and how we should improve our lifestyles. These improvements will help us look and feel better. They should help us resist disease. And in the end, they should help us live longer and healthier lives.

If you have already done a lot of research about anti aging and health after 50, you may not really learn anything new. But you may come to understand why doctors and scientists are telling middle aged and older people to make these changes.

If you have not explored health over 50, this book is a great place to start. It lays out all of the latest medical research on diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes that have been clearly demonstrated to help older people resist disease, and to stay healthy longer.

Look Good, Feel Good, Stay Healthy!

What I really enjoyed about this health plan is that it is not intended to take over our lives with some rigid discipline that nobody could stick to. Most of us could just make some simple and gentle changes to improve our overall health. And another point I really like is how Dr. Sears illustrates that our whole body is related. Changes that impact our heart, for instance, can also impact our skin, mental health, and overall appearance. So maybe I should call this book is the Look Good, Feel Good, Stay Healthy Book!

Here are some of the simple suggestions:

Eat more good carbs and good fats. Do not give up on carbohydrates and fats, but replace the bad ones with the good ones. The book will explain which types of fats and carbs are actually good for you, and which to avoid most of the time. It also goes into the scientific studies to back up these suggestions.

Enjoy moderate exercise. The book does not tell us we all have to become marathon runners, but it does suggest taking at least 2 hours a week out to get fit. Two hours is something that most of us could enjoy by taking short walks every day. The key is to keep up a routine, and actually do the two hours of exercise a week.

Avoid bad sugar, but enjoy good sugar. Fruit sugar, which is consumed with an entire fruit that also has fiber, is good for most of us. Refined sugar, especially consumed straight in a soda, is not so good for us.

Balance the bad with the good. We are told to enjoy more fish and avoid fatty read meat. But if we must go out and have a steak once in awhile, to be sure not to skip the salad, and to eat it with fruit rather than more fat.

I think most of us can benefit from the tips in Prime-Time Health.

We want to help middle aged people and seniors enjoy Sears Prime-Time Health. It is a clear and proven way to improve health, mood, and even our looks as we age.

I need an article about why Eve Ensler changed the “Coochi Snorcher” scene in “The Vagina Monologues”.

Has Eve Ensler ever discussed in print the events surrounding the change of the woman’s age in “Coochi Snorcher” from 13 to 16? I am writing a paper discussing the issues, criticisms, and positives of this particular monologue, but I can only find materials that have a combative, anti-Vagina Monologues based agenda.

Thanks, Joey. I am very pro-”coochi snorcher”, but there is alot that still bothers me. For one, I am bothered by the fact that there is no pro-VM articles discussing the change.

gosh, i’m not sure, but i’m going to dig around for you!
that specific segment is my favorite!
i heard about the “coochie snorcher” a few years ago from watching the monologues on HBO and i’ve been using that term ever since!
i’ll do some digging!

EDIT:

this article discusses it breifly, but could help overall. the girl is 16 in this article.

this article touches on the controversy and the fact that the age was changed. it does have links to other articles from reputable newspapers about the controversy.

here’s the last promising one. since i didn’t find anything for you ending the debate of 13 vs. 16, i thought this one may help. each article listed on the page has contact info for the writer of the article at the end of their piece. since some of them interviewed Ensler, they may have a way of getting to the bottom of the mystery.

when you pick a best answer could you please give the final reason why it was changed??? if you find out?? i’ll put this on my watch list!
thanks!

EDIT:
some of these articles are Pro-VM. they may not discuss the change of age, but they support the Monologues.
also, did you ever think that since it’s not such a HUGE issue in the media, that the age change was simpy due to error. if the change was juicy and controversial, it most likely would have been covered somewhere. it could probably be chalked up to mis-information. that happens often when you take stories and interviews from people. her first few productions said 13 and the woman may have come forward and said she was actually 16…
just a guess from lots of research into lit, drama and “stories” of others.

ever think about contacting Eve Ensler???

Behind the glossy images in magazines, and on television, there lies dangerous anti-aging secrets.

Most skin care products, even the “natural” ones, contain many harsh chemicals used in industrial processes.

These chemicals are known to cause a wide range of adverse health effects, ranging from skin irritation to cancer.
But the skin care companies don’t want you to know this.

If you knew the truth, you’d have second thoughts about buying many of the most popular skin care products on the market……even the expensive brands.

You can stop aging by educating yourself on effective anti-aging skin care and use anti-aging products that will work for you and your skin.
